The Kaduna State Security Council, under the leadership of Governor Uba Sani, has announced an immediate 24-hour curfew for the metropolitan areas of Kaduna and Zaria, as well as their surrounding regions.
The decision follows a comprehensive review of the state’s security situation, which indicated that ongoing protests have been exploited by criminal elements responsible for looting and vandalism of both private and public property.
In a statement issued on Monday, Samuel Aruwan, Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, advised residents to stay indoors while security forces work to restore order.
“The curfew will be assessed and adjusted as needed based on the evolving security situation,” Aruwan said. He urged the public to cooperate with security personnel and report any suspicious activities.
Further details will be provided as the situation develops.
