Ogun State, August 30, 2024 — A tragic auto crash along the Ogere axis of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Friday morning claimed the lives of six individuals and left three others injured. The accident occurred around 8 am and involved a Toyota Sienna and an unidentified truck.
According to Florence Okpe, the Public Education Officer of the Ogun State Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the crash was caused by the Sienna, which was traveling at high speed, colliding with the truck from behind. The impact of the collision resulted in the fatalities and injuries.
Okpe identified the vehicles involved as a Toyota Sienna with the number plate EPE 692 EL and an unidentified truck. The victims comprised two males and four females who died, while three other female adults sustained varying degrees of injuries. The injured were transported to Patmag Hospital in Ogere, and the deceased were taken to FOS IPARA Morgue.
“The suspected cause of the crash was excessive speed on the part of the Sienna Space Bus, which rammed into a moving truck from the rear. The truck did not stop after the incident,” Okpe said.
Ogun FRSC Sector Commander Akinwumi Fasakin described the crash as avoidable and emphasized the need for drivers to exercise caution. He urged all motorists to focus on their driving and adhere to traffic rules to prevent such incidents.
