General Christopher Musa, Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, has pledged to capture Bello Turji, a notorious bandit leader responsible for multiple attacks on residents in Zamfara State. Speaking to journalists in Abuja on Tuesday, Musa described Turji as “a deranged individual” and expressed confidence that he would be apprehended in the shortest possible time.
Turji, known for his reign of terror in the Northwest, recently imposed a N30 million levy on Zamfara residents, extorting money in exchange for protection against further attacks. Musa criticized this practice, labeling it as a desperate measure by Turji and other bandits.
“We’re going to get him, and I can assure you that it will be within the shortest possible time,” Musa declared. He emphasized the need to address the issue of levies imposed by bandits, which he said are used to sustain their illegal activities. “Even when they get the money, they don’t have a way to use it. The money they’re getting is blood money. We must come together to work with the armed forces and security agencies to deny them the ability to move freely within our communities,” he added
