Nasarawa Eggon APC Chairmanship Aspirant Promises Democratic Dividends Ahead of November Polls

As residents of Nasarawa State prepare for the upcoming local government elections across the 13 Local Government Areas (LGAs) on November 2, Jonathan Embugu, an aspirant for the chairmanship position in Nasarawa Eggon LGA under the All Progressives Congress (APC), has vowed to deliver democratic dividends to his constituents if elected.

Speaking with journalists on Monday, Embugu expressed confidence in his victory, citing his long-standing contributions to the development of the area. He noted the overwhelming support he had received from both his party leaders and numerous constituents eager for progress in the LGA.

“I am optimistic about winning this election because of the support I’ve received from my party and the people of Nasarawa Eggon, who have consistently called for rapid growth and development in our community,” Embugu said.

The chairmanship hopeful also expressed his gratitude to the people of the LGA for their unwavering support since he declared his intention to contest. He promised to implement an open-door policy and prioritize the welfare of key groups in the community, including students, farmers, market women, and less-privileged individuals. His administration, he pledged, would regularly assist these groups to alleviate their challenges.

“I am making it clear today that if I am elected as chairman of Nasarawa Eggon Local Government, I will bring the good dividends of democracy to all residents,” Embugu stated, emphasizing his commitment to not disappointing the party members and the electorate.

Meanwhile, the Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC) has confirmed that the local government elections will take place on November 2, 2024. NASIEC Chairman Ayuba Wandai announced that the tenure of the current elected officials will end on October 7, 2024, after completing three years in office, following their election on October 6, 2021.

Wandai urged residents to actively participate in the electoral process and reassured the public that the commission was fully prepared to conduct free, fair, and credible elections across the state.
