In a heartfelt gesture aimed at easing the burden on the families of police officers who have been either killed or injured in the line of duty, the Kano State Commissioner of Police, Salman Garba, presented cheques totaling N83,102,207.38 to 45 beneficiaries on Tuesday evening. This assistance is part of the ongoing efforts to support the welfare of police personnel and their families.
The statement, issued by the Command’s spokesman, SP Abdullahi Haruna, emphasized that the cheques are a transparent demonstration of the Inspector-General of Police’s (IGP) commitment to the well-being of officers and their immediate families. Haruna noted, “The presentation of cheques to the beneficiaries is a reinforcement of the Police Force’s dedication to supporting its officers and their families.”
The beneficiaries include the next of kin of deceased officers and victims of police-related accidents, who expressed their gratitude for the timely assistance. The money was hailed as an invaluable resource, arriving at a time of great need.
One of the beneficiaries said, “The IGP’s welfare scheme is a testament to the police force’s commitment to its personnel and their families. This initiative has benefited numerous families across the country, demonstrating the force’s resolve to care for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.”
This welfare initiative highlights the importance of recognizing the sacrifices made by police officers and providing financial support to their families during challenging times. It also serves as a reminder of the continuous dedication of the police force to the welfare of its personnel.
