Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, swiftly moved to solidify his administration’s leadership by swearing in key officials just 24 hours after taking office. On Wednesday, Barrister Musa Ikhilor formally assumed the role of Secretary to the State Government (SSG), while Barrister Samson Osagie was inaugurated as Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice.
The appointments come after Okpebholo’s prompt announcement on Tuesday, immediately following his own swearing-in, of Ikhilor and Osagie’s nominations. Within hours, Osagie’s candidacy was reviewed and confirmed by the Edo State House of Assembly.
Addressing the new officials, Governor Okpebholo emphasized the urgency of his administration’s agenda, encouraging Ikhilor and Osagie to work diligently to advance the state’s interests and ensure that the needs of the people are prioritized.
“I was voted to work, and everybody should be ready to work. I carefully selected these appointees based on their proven integrity. Let’s collaborate to deliver our best for Edo,” he said.
Ikhilor assured that the new team is committed to delivering on the Governor’s campaign promises, pledging to drive development across the state. Attorney-General Osagie echoed this sentiment, stating that he would work to support the Governor’s agenda and uphold the rights of the people of Edo.
