Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Monday met with former President Olusegun Obasanjo at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) in Abeokuta, Ogun State, sparking speculation about political realignments ahead of the 2027 elections.
Atiku, who was the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in the 2023 election and is rumored to be considering another bid for the presidency, arrived at the OOPL around 12:36 p.m. He proceeded to the penthouse section, where Obasanjo received him for a private discussion.
High-Profile Delegation
The former vice president was accompanied by notable political figures, including former Cross River State Governor Liyel Imoke, former Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal, Senator Abdul Ningi of Bauchi, and Obasanjo’s close associate, Otunba Oyewole Fasawe, among others.
Speculation Over Meeting Agenda
As of press time, neither Atiku nor Obasanjo has disclosed the purpose of their meeting. However, the visit has fueled speculation about potential political discussions, especially considering Atiku’s possible interest in the 2027 presidential race and Obasanjo’s influential role in Nigerian politics.
The meeting comes amid ongoing debates about the country’s political landscape, governance challenges, and future leadership. Observers are keenly watching for any statements or developments that may emerge from the high-profile engagement.
