The announcement was made on Tuesday during a meeting of the State Task Force on Primary Healthcare and an award presentation ceremony held at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Bauchi.
Speaking on behalf of the governor, Deputy Governor Auwal Jatau disclosed that ₦261.7 million of the approved sum has already been disbursed to the Bauchi State Primary Healthcare Board. He described the funding as a strategic investment aimed at improving healthcare infrastructure, supporting frontline health workers, and ensuring that citizens — regardless of location or socioeconomic status — can access essential medical services.
“I want to express my deepest gratitude to all the health workers, local government health teams, facility managers, and community volunteers who have worked tirelessly and passionately to ensure that healthcare delivery in our state continues to improve steadily,” Jatau stated. “Your dedication is the backbone of our progress in primary healthcare.”
He emphasized that the state government will continue to roll out impactful health programmes with a particular focus on vulnerable groups such as women and children, while working toward achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
“Today’s awards are a token of our immense appreciation to all the recipients,” the deputy governor said. “We will continue to invest in initiatives that elevate the health and well-being of our people in both rural and urban areas.”
Jatau also acknowledged the vital contributions of development partners, thanking them for their technical and financial support. He stressed the importance of ongoing collaboration to enhance healthcare delivery across the state.
In his remarks, Emir of Dass, Usman Bilyaminu, who co-chairs the State Task Force on Primary Healthcare, commended the government for its sustained efforts in improving health outcomes. He highlighted notable progress made in programme implementation and urged continued investment to consolidate on the gains achieved so far.
The event marks another milestone in the state’s push to build a resilient healthcare system and reflects Bauchi’s broader agenda of prioritizing public health as a key pillar of development.
