Katsina Police Foil Kidnapping Attempt, Recover Weapons and Motorcycle

KATSINA, May 5, 2025 — The Katsina State Police Command has successfully foiled a kidnapping attempt in Faskari Local Government Area (LGA) and recovered one AK-47 rifle and a motorcycle during a joint operation on Friday.

According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, the incident occurred on May 2, 2025, when suspected armed bandits attacked Abu Iro, a 23-year-old male from Faskari LGA. The attackers inflicted a deep machete wound on his head while attempting to kidnap him.

Upon receiving the distress report, a swift response was mounted by a joint team of police personnel and the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC), led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Faskari. The team successfully thwarted the kidnapping attempt and rescued the victim.

During the operation, the security forces recovered a locally made AK-47 rifle and a red Boxer motorcycle. However, one member of the KSCWC sustained a gunshot wound to his right leg. He was immediately taken to the hospital and is currently responding to treatment.
