Members of the African Union Election Observation Mission (AUEOM), led by former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan, visited polling stations in Gaborone, the capital of Botswana, on Wednesday to observe the nation’s general elections.

In a statement shared on X.com, Jonathan reported on the AUEOM’s activities, stating, “Out early on Election Day in Botswana, we, as members of the African Union Election Observation Mission, visited some polling stations in Gaborone.”

The October 30, 2024, general elections mark the 13th since Botswana gained independence in 1965. Jonathan expressed his well wishes for the Batswana, hoping for a successful electoral process as the country seeks to strengthen its vibrant democracy.
