As Christian women in Anambra State commence this year’s annual August Meeting, the wife of the state governor, Dr. Nonye Soludo, has urged participants to focus on addressing fundamental family and societal challenges.
In a statement issued in Awka on Tuesday, Soludo said the gathering should serve as a platform for women to identify and address pressing issues within their communities, including moral decline in child upbringing, erosion of family values, drug abuse among students, parental neglect, and the pursuit of illicit wealth by youths.
“It is time for August Meetings to move away from what it used to be to take a deeper dive into promoting communal and religious peace, tolerance, and solving critical issues,” she stated.
She emphasised that the platform should inspire ideological reforms, social progress, and economic empowerment, while also reaching out to members struggling with faith and life, and dedicating time to spiritual revival.
Dr. Soludo further called for greater awareness of proper family planning, warning that unplanned families could pose long-term challenges to society.
Wishing participants a peaceful and fulfilling meeting, she urged them to keep Anambra State and Nigeria in their prayers.
