Atnesystems Energy, in partnership with Metrol Fittings Limited, has completed the installation of a 250-kilowatt-hour solar photovoltaic (PV) system at the Lagos State Multipurpose Agent Complex, a landmark project designed to cut carbon emissions and boost energy efficiency.
The initiative, led by renewable energy expert Tanwa Iwayemi, equips each floor of the eight-story building with its own PV and battery system, allowing for scalability.
“This project marks a major step toward the Lagos State government’s goal of achieving smarter, sustainable infrastructure,” Iwayemi said in a statement on Friday. “The solar solution provides clean, stable power for critical security and communication systems, helping us maintain high service standards.”
The project, which took three years from inspection to final mounting, overcame significant structural and logistical hurdles. “Installing 132 panels on the roof was no small feat,” Iwayemi explained. “From cable routing and equipment transport without elevators to managing both the rooftop and car park arrays, safety and compliance were always our priority.”
Adekunle, Site Electrical Engineer with Metrol Fittings, described the experience as transformative. “Though I come from an electrical background, this project gave me solid hands-on experience with solar installation. I now have the confidence to execute similar projects in the future,” he said.
The installation includes bifacial solar panels, inverters, and fire-resistant wiring, with early results showing strong performance. Zglob Engineering Services Limited, which deployed the building’s advanced communication and security infrastructure, confirmed seamless operations since the system went live.
“Our Cisco routers, Hikvision access systems, and Grandstream IP PBX require uninterrupted power,” said Richard Madu of Zglob. “Thanks to the solar PV and battery system, we’ve not had a single system crash or delay due to power failure.”
Iwayemi, who has over two decades of experience in renewable energy, has led major solar PV and battery storage projects for commercial and residential clients across Nigeria.
The Lagos solar deployment is being hailed as a model for sustainable energy projects nationwide, with its scalable design, strong safety focus, and demonstrable impact on both operations and the environment.
