Bassey Osagie Honoured with Doctorate Degree in Criminal, Social Justice

In recognition of his outstanding contributions to community development, leadership excellence, and commitment to justice and empowerment, Dr. Bassey Osagie has been conferred with an Honorary Doctorate Degree (PhD Honoris Causa) in Criminal and Social Justice by the College of Chaplaincy and Social Sciences, Nigeria, an affiliate of Kingdom Life University, Florida, USA.

The award ceremony, scheduled for December 3, 2025, celebrates Dr. Osagie’s consistent dedication to building safer, stronger, and more equitable communities through his professional service and humanitarian initiatives.

As a law enforcement leader with the Toronto Police Service, Dr. Osagie has demonstrated remarkable leadership in fostering community engagement, youth empowerment, and social responsibility. His role as Staff Sergeant has been characterized by deep commitment to mentorship, accountability, and integrity; values that mirror the very essence of criminal and social justice.

Beyond policing, Dr. Osagie’s influence extends through his leadership and volunteer work in multiple organizations, including the OBO Leadership and Empowerment Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to reducing poverty and promoting empowerment through vocational training, agricultural innovation, and women’s economic advancement.

Receiving this honorary doctorate underscores Dr. Osagie’s lifelong passion for justice and human development, as well as his belief that true leadership is rooted in service, compassion, and transformation.

Speaking on the recognition, Dr. Osagie expressed gratitude to the College of Chaplaincy and Social Sciences and reaffirmed his commitment to advancing justice and equity wherever he serves.

“This recognition is a reminder that leadership goes beyond position; it’s about impact. I dedicate this honour to everyone striving to build a just and compassionate society,” he stated.

The College of Chaplaincy and Social Sciences, in affiliation with Kingdom Life University, continues to recognize exceptional individuals whose work reflects moral excellence, leadership, and contribution to humanity; qualities that Dr. Osagie embodies with distinction.
