Defence Headquarters Dismisses Asari Dokubo’s Threats, Challenges Him to Enter Battlefield

The Defence Headquarters has responded to recent statements made by former militant leader Asari Dokubo, who threatened to shoot down a military helicopter near his residence. In a bold retort, the Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj. Gen. Edward Buba, challenged Dokubo to enter the battlefield if he truly believed he could defeat the Nigerian military.

Buba addressed Dokubo’s remarks, calling the threat “laughable,” and reaffirmed the military’s professionalism and commitment to operating within the boundaries of democracy. He noted that, while Dokubo’s claim might not warrant immediate military action, other security agencies would handle the situation appropriately.

In his response, Buba emphasized that the military’s primary focus remains on combating terrorism across the nation, highlighting that over 300 terrorist commanders had been neutralized in the past three quarters. He reiterated that the military has been systematically reducing the operational capabilities of terrorist groups and recovering significant amounts of weapons and ammunition.

Buba concluded that if Dokubo truly believed in his ability to contend with the military, he should step into the battlefield and witness the military’s response firsthand.
