In a historic election, Tina Oigiagbe has become the first female chairman of the Edo State chapter of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), with a tenure of one year and the option to seek re-election. The election, disclosed by NSE Edo Publicity Secretary Evans Edionwe, marks a milestone for the Benin branch, with Oigiagbe as the 23rd chairman.
The inauguration, held on October 26, was attended by engineers and community members and featured a keynote address by Prof. Sunday Onohaebi on “The Impact of Engineering on Economic Growth and Development in Nigeria.” During her acceptance speech, Oigiagbe commended her predecessor, Evukowhiroro Ojegba, for his dedication and pledged to uphold the values of innovation, professionalism, and national development within the NSE.
NSE President Margaret Oguntala, represented by Vice President Bemigho Ofoeyeno, extended congratulations to Oigiagbe, encouraging her to continue advancing the society’s objectives.
