EFCC Arrests 21 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Bauchi

Bauchi, March 17, 2025 – The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 21 suspected internet fraudsters in Bauchi State.

According to a statement by the EFCC’s Gombe Zonal Directorate, the operation took place on Saturday, March 15, 2025, following credible intelligence on the suspects’ alleged involvement in cybercrime.

Luxury Items Recovered

The suspects were apprehended at Kaure New Government Reservation Area (GRA) and Awala, Maiduguri Road, Bauchi.

During the raid, EFCC operatives seized several luxury items, including:

  • One BMW car
  • One Toyota Camry
  • Three PlayStation 5 consoles
  • 30 high-end mobile phones
  • One flat-screen television
  • Six Point of Sale (POS) machines
  • Four iPads
  • Five laptops

Suspects to Face Prosecution

The EFCC emphasized that investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will be charged to court upon completion of the process.

“The suspects were arrested based on credible intelligence on their alleged involvement in internet-related fraud,” the statement read.

“They will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.”

The anti-graft agency reaffirmed its commitment to tackling cybercrime and urged the public to report any suspicious activities related to internet fraud.
