The Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has underscored the pivotal role of women in achieving the Nigerian government’s ambitious target of building a $1 trillion economy by 2030.

Speaking during the distribution of food items as part of the federal government’s end-of-year intervention for vulnerable Nigerians, the minister highlighted the centrality of women in driving economic growth across diverse sectors such as agriculture, creative industries, and digital innovation.

Renewed Hope Initiative

The food distribution event, themed the Renewed Hope Year-End Intervention for Vulnerable Women and Families, aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s vision of supporting underprivileged groups and addressing pressing socio-economic challenges.

In her statement, Sulaiman-Ibrahim remarked:

“The Renewed Hope Year-End intervention for vulnerable Women and Families reflects President Bola Tinubu’s mission to address the pressing needs of vulnerable groups. This initiative marks the beginning of a new era, one where no one is left behind.”

She added,

“As part of Mr. President’s renewed hope vision, we seek to build a $1 trillion economy, and women are central to achieving this ambitious goal. By unlocking the full potential of women across various sectors, we can create a transformative impact on Nigeria’s economy and society.”

Nationwide Commitment

The minister revealed plans to replicate this initiative nationwide, ensuring women and children across all regions benefit from the administration’s commitment to advancing their welfare.

“As we approach a new year, President Bola Tinubu’s administration is committed to expanding its mission of protecting and empowering women, children, their families, and other vulnerable groups. Women are the backbone of our society, and empowering them is essential to fostering strong and resilient communities,” she emphasized.

Commendations and Reception

Dr. Asabe Bashir, Director-General of the Maryam Babangida National Centre for Women Development, and Mrs. Oghogho Musa, National President of the Defence Police Officers Wives Association, commended the timely initiative. They described it as a significant step toward addressing the immediate needs of vulnerable women and families.

At the event, various women’s groups expressed gratitude, singing and dancing as they received food packages, including bags of rice and other condiments, to support their families during the festive season.
