Former Chelsea and Brazil midfielder Oscar has been discharged from hospital after being admitted last week due to a heart-related concern that emerged during pre-season testing.
The 34-year-old collapsed while undergoing routine physical assessments at São Paulo’s training centre on Tuesday, prompting immediate medical intervention and hospitalisation.
According to BBC Sport on Monday, São Paulo confirmed that Oscar left Einstein Hospital Israelita on Sunday and remained “stable and clinically well” throughout his treatment.
The club said medical evaluations revealed that the midfielder had suffered an episode of vasovagal syncope, a common type of fainting triggered by a sudden drop in blood pressure and heart rate.
Following his discharge, Oscar has been placed on a medical rest programme and is expected to spend the next few days recovering under supervision.
Oscar began his career at São Paulo before moving to Europe, where he made his name at Chelsea between 2012 and 2017. He returned to his boyhood club last year on a three-year contract running until 2027 after an eight-year stint in China.
PUNCH Online earlier reported that Oscar was in a stable condition following the incident.
