Farm Manager Killed, Three Abducted in Niger State Raid

Niger State – In a harrowing attack on the outskirts of Sabon-Wuse community in Tafa Local Government Area, suspected hoodlums have killed a farm manager and kidnapped three individuals from two separate farms.

The manager, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, was shot dead when he attempted to confront the armed assailants who had invaded the farms early Wednesday morning. The bandits had initially abducted three people before the fatal confrontation, according to Hussaini Abubakar, Commander of the Security Vigilante in Tafa community.

“The manager was among those who attempted to confront the gunmen, but in the process, he was shot to death by the bandits,” Abubakar said. The assailants did not steal any livestock during the raid.

Niger State Police Command spokesperson Wasiu Abiodun confirmed the incident, revealing that two of the kidnapped individuals were taken from a residence at Angwan-Aso near Sabon-Wuse. He noted that a security guard at a nearby poultry farm sustained gunshot injuries during the attack and later succumbed to his wounds at Umaru Musa Yar’adua Hospital.

“The police patrol team, led by the DPO of Sabon-Wuse Police Division, responded to the scene,” Abiodun said. “However, by the time they arrived, the hoodlums had already fled with the victims. We are working diligently to rescue those abducted and to ensure their safe return.”

The raid has heightened concerns over security in the region, with local authorities and residents urging increased vigilance and support from security agencies to curb the rising tide of violence.
