Former Lagos Police Spokesperson, ACP Chike Oti, Appeals for N25 Million for Kidney Transplant

Lagos, August 29, 2024 — ACP Chike Godwin Oti, a former police spokesperson in Lagos State, has made a heartfelt appeal to Nigerians for financial assistance to undergo a life-saving kidney transplant. The senior police officer, who was recently diagnosed with fifth-stage renal failure, urgently needs N25 million to cover the cost of the procedure.

In a statement shared with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday, Oti disclosed his medical condition and the dire financial situation he faces. “My dear brothers and sisters, my name is ACP Chike Godwin Oti, recently transferred as ACP DFA, Railway Police Command, Ebutte Meta, Lagos. I wish to inform you that I was recently diagnosed with fifth-stage renal failure, also known as an end-stage renal disease (kidney failure), occasioned by unmitigated high blood pressure at Lagoon Hospital, Bourdillion Street, Ikoyi, Lagos,” he said.

Oti explained that his only chance of survival is to undergo regular hemodialysis sessions, twice a week, until he can afford a kidney transplant. “The cost of keeping alive is way beyond my means right now. I, therefore, seek your help, dear brothers and sisters, to surmount this terrible illness,” he added.

The police officer has already spent approximately N3.5 million on medical care during his week-long stay at Lagoon Hospital. However, the continued cost of treatment and the looming expense of the transplant are overwhelming.

Oti has provided his account details for those willing to contribute towards his medical expenses:

  • Account Number: 2016631487
  • Bank: UBA PLC
  • Name: CHIKE OTI
  • Phone Number: 07065246927

The appeal highlights the severe impact of kidney disease and the financial burden it places on individuals and their families. Oti’s plea is a call for collective support to help him overcome this critical health challenge.
