Gospel Singer Paul Nwokocha Breaks Silence on Marital Controversy

Renowned gospel singer Paul Nwokocha has finally addressed the swirling rumors surrounding his troubled marriage, delivering a candid and explosive statement in a viral video on his official YouTube channel.

In the video, which surfaced on Sunday, Nwokocha defended his decision to end his marriage, citing his wife’s alleged “abominable acts.” He stated unequivocally that he had no regrets about the separation.

“If I marry today and find out that the wife I married is doing an abominable thing before God and before man, I will send you out of my house,” the singer declared.

Nwokocha went on to make shocking allegations, claiming that his estranged wife had been sending explicit photos and videos to other men. Addressing critics who questioned his actions, he posed a rhetorical challenge, asking how they would react if faced with similar circumstances.

“I married a wife, not a whore. So, I owe nobody an apology for this,” he stated firmly.

His public outburst has since ignited widespread debate on social media, with opinions sharply divided. While some applaud his stance on morality, others question the wisdom of making such private matters public.

A Pattern of Marital Controversies

According to a report by ABNTV on Monday, Nwokocha’s latest separation marks the end of his second marriage within two years. His bride’s family has formally returned the bride price—an act that traditionally signifies the dissolution of the union.

The gospel singer married his second wife, Goodness Nwokocha, in September 2023, barely a month after ending his first marriage to Alice Nwokocha. He previously accused Alice of maltreatment, including her alleged refusal to serve him food.

A family source, speaking anonymously, revealed that Goodness’s marriage to Nwokocha was troubled from the outset. She reportedly faced mistreatment in her marital home and was treated more like a housemaid than a wife. The source further disclosed that Goodness had no prior romantic involvement with Nwokocha before their marriage, which was arranged under pressure from his uncles.

By May 2024, tensions had escalated beyond repair, and with the return of the bride price, the marriage was officially over.

Public Reaction and Ongoing Debate

Nwokocha’s statements have sparked a firestorm of reactions, with many questioning whether the singer’s personal revelations were appropriate for public discourse. Others have drawn attention to his unconventional views on marriage, particularly his rejection of the traditional vow of commitment “for better, for worse.”

As the controversy continues to unfold, Nwokocha remains steadfast in his decision, asserting that his actions align with his moral and religious convictions. Whether his public disclosures will impact his career remains to be seen.
