Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has submitted a list of 16 commissioner nominees to the state House of Assembly for screening and confirmation, following the dissolution of his cabinet earlier in January.

The Speaker of the Assembly, Danladi Jatau, announced the nominees’ names during Monday’s plenary session in Lafia, the state capital. He directed the appointees to submit 30 copies of their Curriculum Vitae to the House by Thursday and appear for screening on Monday next week.

A Fresh Cabinet for Governance

Governor Sule had sacked his cabinet on January 3, citing the need to bring in technocrats with proven track records to enhance governance and deliver democratic dividends to the people of Nasarawa State.

The nominees represent various local government areas across the state. They include:

• Akwanga LGA: Yakubu Kwanta
• Awe LGA: Hon. Tanko Tunga
• Doma LGA: Hajiya Munirat Abdullahi, Gabriel Agbashi
• Karu LGA: Barr. Isaac Danladi Amadu
• Keana LGA: Princess Margaret Itaki Elayo
• Keffi LGA: Dr. Ibrahim Tanko
• Kokona LGA: Dr. John Mamman
• Lafia LGA: Hon. Aminu Mu’azu Maifata, CP Usman Baba (retd.)
• Nasarawa LGA: Hon. Mohammed Sani Ottos
• Nasarawa Eggon LGA: Hon. Mohammed Agah Muluku
• Obi LGA: Barr. David Moyi
• Toto LGA: Dr. Gaza Gwamna
• Wamba LGA: Barr. Jugbo Hauwa Samuel, Hon. Mu’azu Gosho

Diversity in the Nominees

The list includes three female nominees, as well as two former members of the state House of Assembly—Umar Tunga and Mohammed Muluku—who have been selected to serve in the state executive council.

With the screening process set to begin next week, expectations are high as Governor Sule looks to reshape his administration and strengthen governance in Nasarawa State.
