A socio-political group in Akwa Ibom State, E’ekpede Initiative, has declared its support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Governor Umo Eno in the 2027 general elections.
Speaking at a press conference held on Monday at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Secretariat in Uyo, the Chairman, Board of Trustees of the group, Mr. Adede Inima, said the initiative was established “as a child of necessity” to promote political stability and development in both the state and the nation.
“Our aim is clear, our mission is unmistakable, and we are poised to push for the re-election of these distinguished Nigerians not out of any selfish motive, but because returning them to office in 2027 is in the overall interest and development of our nation and state,” Inima stated.
He commended President Tinubu’s reform policies, saying they were beginning to yield positive results across the country.
“Today, we are lucky to have a President who understands that if the lives of the people must change positively, the states must be empowered to drive that change,” he said.
“His bold policies have put more cash in the hands of governors, helping them execute projects without unnecessary dependence on financial institutions for loans.”
Inima described Tinubu as a leader who has “renewed the hopes of Nigerians” and is “steering the country toward economic stability and growth.”
The BOT chairman also praised Governor Umo Eno, whom he described as a “highly focused and people-oriented leader” committed to grassroots development.
“In our state, God has given us a leader who understands the language of empathy and people-centered leadership a governor obsessed with making life better for the people and bringing life back to our rural communities,” he added.
According to him, Akwa Ibom being aligned politically with the Federal Government presents a “unique opportunity” for accelerated development.
“We are now on the same page and in the same progressive party with the Federal Government. This is a big plus for us, a movement we must join hands to support,” Inima said.
On the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, Inima noted that Akwa Ibom’s political fortunes had improved under his leadership at the National Assembly.
“With Senator Akpabio as Senate President the number three citizen of our country we cannot afford to play blind politics of backwardness anchored on hopelessness and uncertainty,” he declared.
He called on Akwa Ibom people to unite under the “progressive train” to ensure sustained development and political relevance for the state.
“This is a task we must collectively join hands to accomplish because it is not just the right thing to do, but a politically wise course for us in Akwa Ibom at this material time,” Inima concluded.
