Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has charged newly appointed commissioners and special advisers to prioritize service to the people and uphold the principles of teamwork, discipline, and integrity in the discharge of their duties.
Speaking at the official swearing-in ceremony held on Wednesday in Kaduna, Governor Sani reminded the appointees that their primary responsibility is to serve the citizens, stressing that public office is a privilege, not an entitlement.
“You are not bosses, but servants of the people. You have been called to serve because you possess the skills and experience to contribute meaningfully to the rebuilding and renewal of our dear state,” the governor said.
Among those sworn into office were Professor Abubakar Sambo as Commissioner for Education, Gloria Ibrahim as Commissioner for Youth Development, and Mrs. Jummai Bako as Head of Service. Others include Ado Dogo Audu, Counsellor on Political Matters; Ahmad Shehu Haruna, Special Adviser on Economic Matters; Abubakar Shehu Giwa, Special Adviser on Political Affairs; and Kabiru Yakubu Jarimi, Special Adviser on Local Government Affairs.
Governor Sani underscored the importance of collaboration across ministries and departments, warning against the dangers of isolated decision-making and bureaucratic silos.
“It is only through teamwork that we can achieve results. Working in isolation or with minimal coordination will stall our progress,” he said.
He also recounted key milestones achieved under his administration in the past two years, including extensive infrastructural development, significant improvements in healthcare and education, and aggressive efforts to tackle poverty and insecurity.
“The government has made substantial progress in fighting poverty and deepening our partnership with security agencies to ensure a safer Kaduna. It is now your responsibility to build on these achievements,” he stated.
Governor Sani called on the appointees to adopt innovative approaches to governance while maintaining accountability. He urged them to “think out of the box, while keeping the box in view,” and to immediately settle into their roles with a commitment to excellence.
“You must roll up your sleeves and hit the ground running. The people are watching, and they expect results,” he concluded.
The appointments are part of a broader strategy by the Uba Sani administration to strengthen governance and accelerate developmental projects across Kaduna State.
