In a significant political shift, Mr. Titus Odo, the Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party (LP) in Enugu State, and Prince Emeka Mamah, former Commissioner for Chieftaincy Affairs and State Coordinator of the Peter Obi Presidential Campaign, have rejoined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The two political figures, who left the PDP for the LP during the 2023 general elections, were officially received back into the PDP fold on Wednesday at the party’s State Secretariat in Enugu.

Welcoming the defectors, Enugu State PDP Chairman, Dr. Martin Chukwunwike, expressed delight at their return, describing it as a major boost to the party’s unity and strength ahead of the 2027 elections. He disclosed that their return followed a directive from Governor Peter Mbah to reconcile with and reintegrate aggrieved former members.

“We are happy to have them in our midst, and God has set this party on a good foot as 2027 is already assured,” Chukwunwike stated, calling for greater unity within the party to prepare for the electoral contests ahead.

Speaking at the event, Odo said his decision to return to the PDP was largely influenced by the visible infrastructural and developmental strides recorded under Governor Mbah’s administration.

“I am happy to tell you that I am back to my home. I came back because of the giant developmental strides of Gov. Mbah, and I say kudos to him,” Odo remarked.

He also cited the defection of Dr. Chijioke Edeoga, the LP’s 2023 governorship candidate in Enugu, and the impressive performance of Igboeze North Council Chairman, Mr. Uchenna Ogara, as additional motivations for his return.

Prince Mamah, on his part, thanked the PDP leadership in Igboeze North, the Enugu North senatorial zone, and the state chapter for warmly welcoming him back. He lauded Governor Mbah’s inclusive leadership style and commitment to development, which he said inspired him to retrace his political steps.

“Personally, I am pleased with the performances of our governor,” Mamah said, pledging his renewed support for the party.

Their defection adds to the political realignments currently reshaping the landscape in Enugu and signals a strengthening of the PDP’s position in the lead-up to the 2027 elections.
