Ibadan, May 5, 2025 — Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has announced a major cabinet reshuffle, reassigning five key commissioners to new ministries as part of efforts to enhance efficiency and service delivery in the state.

The announcement was made in a letter signed by the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Segun Ogunwuyi, and released on Monday through the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Sulaimon Olanrewaju.

According to the statement, the Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Seun Ashamu, has been redeployed to the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources. His counterpart in the Environment Ministry, Abdulmojeed Mogbonjubola, will now head the Ministry of Public Works, Infrastructure and Transport.

The current Commissioner for Public Works, Dahud Shangodoyin, has been moved to the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, while Solihu Adelabu, who has been serving as Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, will now lead the Ministry of Establishments and Training. In a corresponding move, Segun Olayiwola, formerly in charge of the Establishments Ministry, has been appointed as the new Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology.

Governor Makinde stated that the reshuffle takes immediate effect, urging the affected commissioners to continue discharging their duties with renewed commitment and loyalty to the state.

The move is seen as a strategic realignment aimed at consolidating the administration’s development agenda as it enters a critical phase of policy implementation.
