NCC Orders Immediate Restoration of Blocked Phone Lines

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has directed telecommunications operators to promptly restore all phone lines that were blocked due to the non-linkage of National Identification Numbers (NINs) to SIM cards.

In a statement released on Monday, Reuben Muoka, Director of Media and Public Affairs at the NCC, announced the directive, emphasizing the urgency of reinstating connectivity for affected subscribers.

This move comes as part of the ongoing harmonization exercise to ensure that all SIM cards are properly linked to NINs, a measure introduced to enhance the accuracy of the national SIM registration database.

The NCC’s intervention aims to address the disruptions experienced by many users during the exercise, which has led to temporary service interruptions for those whose NINs were not previously linked.

For further updates on this and other related issues, stay tuned to official communications from the NCC.
