The Nigerian Army announced significant successes in its ongoing operations against terrorism, reporting the elimination of eight terrorists and the rescue of 40 individuals who had been abducted. In a post on its official X handle on Monday, the Army detailed recent coordinated efforts that have tightened the grip on unrepentant terrorists and their collaborators across the country.

One of the highlights of these operations included the arrest of a notorious arms courier along the Lafia-Keffi Road in Nasarawa State on September 28. Acting on reliable intelligence, troops recovered 303 live rounds of 7.62mm ammunition concealed in a bag during a strategic stop-and-search operation. The suspect and his vehicle were taken into custody, with investigations ongoing to apprehend his accomplices.

In Kaduna State, troops executed precision strikes in the forests near Danmari and Saulawa villages, resulting in the elimination of one terrorist. Additional engagements in Ankwa village led to the destruction of two more terrorists, alongside the recovery of a locally made firearm, 11 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, and a motorcycle used by the criminals.

Troops also encountered fleeing terrorists in Borno’s Faayijiwa Fandanari village, recovering two AK-47 rifles, 61 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, 51 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, hard drugs, and various supplies that the terrorists abandoned in their haste to escape.

Further operations in Gwoza Local Government Area resulted in the neutralization of three terrorists near Ashigashiya village. Meanwhile, vigilant troops intercepted a convoy suspected of transporting supplies to terrorists at Gubio, seizing three vehicles loaded with food and recovering N2,400 in cash.

In Kukawa Local Government Area, troops successfully thwarted an attempt by terrorists to relocate abducted victims from Cijin village, resulting in the safe rescue of 38 hostages, including six men, eight women, and 24 children, who had been abandoned by their captors.

In Yobe, troops ambushed terrorists extorting civilians in Sasawa village, neutralizing one and recovering an AK-47 rifle and a motorcycle.

The Chief of Army Staff praised the troops for their bravery and unwavering commitment to peace, expressing gratitude to citizens for providing credible information that has facilitated these successful operations. The Nigerian Army reiterated its determination to eliminate terrorism and protect the lives of all Nigerians.
