Nigeria’s Chidimma Adetshina Shines as 1st Runner-Up at 73rd Miss Universe Competition

Chidimma Adetshina has made Nigeria proud with her outstanding performance as the first runner-up at the 73rd Miss Universe Competition held in Mexico City.

In a nail-biting final at the Arena CDMX early Sunday morning, Adetshina faced off against Miss Denmark, Victoria Kjaer Theilvig, for the coveted crown. The electrifying finale saw both women showcase their beauty, intelligence, and poise, but it was Theilvig who emerged victorious, succeeding Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua as Miss Universe 2024.

Described as one of the most thrilling Miss Universe competitions in recent years, the event highlighted the incredible talents and grace of women from across the world. The official Miss Universe Instagram post declared: “The final two! Nigeria and Denmark, two incredible women, one unforgettable moment.”

Adetshina, who had previously been in the spotlight for her controversial withdrawal from the Miss South Africa 2024 competition, held her ground with impressive grace and dignity. She later represented Taraba State, clinching the Miss Universe Nigeria title before competing on the global stage.

Her success at Miss Universe has earned her widespread admiration, and her historic finish is now etched in the hearts of Nigerians and the global pageant community. This achievement follows in the footsteps of Nigeria’s Agbani Darego, who made history as the first Black African to win the Miss World title in 2001.

Adetshina’s remarkable performance continues Nigeria’s proud legacy in the world of international beauty pageants.
