NIWA Lagos Area Manager, Sarat Braimah, Wins Commonwealth Business Women Africa Award

Lagos, Nigeria – The Lagos Area Manager of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Sarat Braimah, has been honored with the Most Influential Woman Award by the Commonwealth Business Women Africa (CBWA).

The award, announced on Tuesday, recognizes Braimah’s outstanding contributions to the maritime sector and her role as an inspiration for young women in Nigeria. As the first female area manager of NIWA in Lagos, her leadership and human resource management skills have made a significant impact in the industry, the organizers noted.

Braimah’s tenure at NIWA has been marked by transformative milestones, earning her admiration from key stakeholders and the agency’s management.

Expressing her gratitude upon receiving the award, Braimah pledged to continue inspiring young people, especially women, to pursue careers in the maritime industry.

“I pray that our women in the service of our country, Nigeria, and Africa remain steadfast and resilient. Nigeria needs our women, and I hope they continue to lead the way positively,” she stated.

Braimah’s recognition further highlights the growing influence of women in leadership roles across Nigeria’s maritime and inland waterways sector.
