Shaping the Future of Work: I-Train Africa Announces Major Impact Gathering in Lagos

I-Train Africa, an Africa based organisation that focuses on employability, workplace readiness, and career advancement will host a major impact gathering event in Lagos on the 17th of January 2026 at Radisson Blu Anchorage Hotel Victoria Island Lagos. The event which promises to bring experts from different walks of life across the continent is part of its Workplace Fundamental Skills (WFS) framework and talent initiatives which helps to equip youths and professionals with the clarity, skills, and confidence required to thrive in the modern workplace.

The event titled  I-Train Africa Impact Gathering 2026 will bring together alumni, employers, government representatives, ecosystem partners, funders, and young professionals to celebrate impact, strengthen community, and advance conversations around employability, workplace readiness, and talent visibility across Africa.

This is coming  at a significant moment for the organisation, following its selection as one of 12 African EdTech startups under the Mastercard Foundation EdTech Fellowship, delivered by CcHub  where it received a $100,000 grant to scale its employability solutions.

At the heart of I-Train Africa’s work is its Workplace Fundamental Skills (WFS) framework a proprietary, three-year tested employability curriculum, designed and iterated across nine demographics and deployed among youths, professionals, and career transitioners across Africa. The curriculum focuses on communication, productivity, digital fluency, workplace behaviour, and career clarity.

According to the organisers, the Impact Gathering is not a typical conference, but a community convergence designed to reflect the organisation’s long-standing emphasis on human connection, collaboration, and real-world outcomes.

Speaking ahead of the event, Founder and Lead Educator of I-Train Africa, Dr. Adérinsola Adio-Adepoju, said the gathering represents a long-awaited moment for a community that has largely existed online. She added that “For over five years, our alumni and learners have grown together virtually across countries and time zones. This gathering is about bringing that community into the same physical space to reflect, reconnect, and collectively prepare for the future of work.”

The programme will feature a keynote address, professional alumni panels, employer and stakeholder conversations, and the official launch of the Skilled Talent Pool 2.0 a structured platform designed to make verified talent visible to employers and partners. The event will also include recognition awards celebrating excellence and impact within the I-Train Africa community.

With alumni across 36 countries and a global audience of over 75,000 learners and professionals, I-Train Africa continues to position itself as a critical player in Africa’s employability and workforce readiness ecosystem.

The Impact Gathering will be hosted as a hybrid event, with limited in-person attendance and global virtual participation. It promises to set the stage for other major capacity building events coming up this year, and also provide lots of young people the opportunity for mentorship and learning.
